In running AVG 8 and have 1 gig ram...my computer runs fine.
I do only scan once a day but it has worked fine.
The way to prevent viruses is to stay away from all those music and video download sites..and also the disto sites. If you go there alot you better have a TSR running that checks everything you look at..but then be prepared to have a slow computer.
