I did find a site that described the alternatives to
generic AT&T/Bellsouth modem-router - I am looking
into some of those.
AT&T/Bellsouth are extremely difficult to communicate
with. We have never been able to reach anyone who
really understands the technology and are always told
that there are no alternatives to their ancient junky
modem-router.

I read that the pre-N routers are amazingly more powerful
and have exceptional coverage, one of our members described
one on the 3rd floor of a concrete & steel building and
said that he had max-signal in the basement.
