[Ham-Computers] Computer Reset Device?

Many years ago... 1995 or so, one of the local BBS's had an odd reset
device for their computer. It was a black box about 5"x7" in size, about
three inches thick. It had a couple of power outlets on it, line cord and
two telephone jacks. It looked VERY much like a line conditioner\surge
supressor. The device funtioned somewhat like this: You plugged your
computer, possibly your modem (don't recall exactly) into the outlets on the
box. You connected your phone line to the box and the modem phone line to
the box as well. In the event of a dropped carrier, to prevent the BBS from
locking up, this black box would power down the computer and turn it back
on. There may have been a data port as well, don't recall all the details,
only saw it twice. I do recall a fellow fiddling with it, changing some
settings, there may be been jumpers under a cover too.

Any ideas?

I'd like to find one and play around with it.

Kurt
