[Ham-Computers] computer fighters?

I recently came across the fact that in 1952, US fighter jets had
computerized missile guidance. Does anyone know what kind of computer
lived in a fighter jet in 1952?

If we consider that the transistor was invented in `47(?), this seems a
bit of a leap. Tube computers tended to take up entire rooms, requiring
specialized air conditioning and blowing out tubes every 15 minutes
(Eniac trivia).

Thanks.

"I have a tube computer. It's not very fast, but it sounds GREAT!"
