I also use the Downloadhelper plug-in for Firefox, though I've been thinking of switching to a different plug-in recommended by one of my favorite tweaker magazines (Maximum PC). As for playing back .flv's, my favorite graphics viewer takes care of that (IrfanView). If you don't have IrfanView, definitely worth a look. I've recommended it for years and, best of all, it's free!

And make sure to download and install the plug-ins too. While you're there, click on the "About the author" link, scroll down to the bottom and check out where he lives...beautiful!

Oh, BTW, the reason you can't "touch" the .tmp file is because the file is "locked" by Flash Player while it's playing - it's a simple way of DRM - Digital Rights Management. This DRM is the reason why many webpages are using Flash. In fact, I've seen a couple of webpages that are 98% Flash based - the only HTML is a short Javascript that loads and launches the flash content. Everything looks like a typical webpage, but it's all "in" Flash.

And, you could try using an "undelete" type program to recover the .TMP file after it's deleted by Flash Player. Haven't tried it, but it should work as long as the content wasn't overwritten.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] YouTube File Saving Utility.

Looking for a way to save files from YouTube.

I found the temp file from the video I watched, it was fla2B.tmp, tried everything I could think of, the browser had a death grip on it and wouldn't let me save or move it. As soon as I closed the browser page, it was deleted.

Is there a way to save them?

I found a website where you can put the link of the file in and it will provide a download button, I would VERY much prefer to not use a third party system, but a basic transfer program, something similar to CuteFTP if anyhting exists.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Kurt
