As you mentioned, most of the QTH.NET lists won't accept attachments (although I've noticed that some are now allowing HTML). Pictures/images are in essense "attachments" due to the way they're handled by e-mail protocol. Even if they are "in-line" (in the body of the message), they are still attachments. If the e-mail is converted from HTML to plain-text, then the e-mail program will usually show the pictures as attachements as long as they were not stripped.
A suggestion for "for sale" messages is to put the picture(s) on a photo sharing service and adding a link in the message to the pictures. Shutterfly, Flickr, Fotki, Ofoto, and even Costco come to mind for free picture sharing. Many ISP's also include a some webpage space - post your photo there when needed.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] File attachments
Most all of the email reflectors will not allow attachments and I want to know if there is a way to insert a picture in the body of a message?
Often, I want to post a ad for a item for sale and it would be nice to be able to do this so the interested party would not have to ask me to send a picture. . . .
Any help/ideas will be appreciated!
