I'm not familiar with it but what I do is to visit symantec or one of 
the other antivirus sites.  Usually they'll have the bugger listed and 
sometimes they'll have a removal tool.  In addition, they'll have manual 
removal instructions.  They're for anyone - not difficult to understand 
and step-by-step.  Give that a shot.

there are quite a few vendors who have online detection programs too, 
where they'll scan your pc for you.

if whatever it is happens to be deeply entrenched, it's possible.

if it's malware, don't use Internet Explorer - use Firefox or Opera. 
Keep the safety ratcheted all the way up on whatever you use.  Don't use 
Flash or javascript.

I use Windows rarely so I don't see this stuff.  When I did, I practiced 
borderline paranoid web safety :)   Stopped using Ad-Aware because there 
was nothing for it to catch.
