   (Ron here) I have never had a computer lesson in my life, I am not any kind of 
programmer, but from dos I learned the power of batch programming and the batch 
programming in LINUX is as powerful as BASIC programming (self taught) except it lacks 
floating point math, (integer only) called bash scripting.
   LINUX is a super-set of dos (actually the other way around) but like windows 3.1 I can 
run a windowing environment over the LINUX called the X windowing system which was created 
by MIT as a graphical terminal system.  (to have many dumb graphical terminals connected 
to a central main computer, it can be run under any other system)
   In X windows all distributions of LINUX look the same, anyway you want it to.
LINUX is 100% configurable to suit you.
