Generally unless the manufacturer's web site spec's for
a mobo lists a CPU as compatible it is not.

If for some reason you cannot get that data from the
manufacturer's site or a quick Internet search on the
mobo model here are some Quick Checks:

1. Number of pins on the mobo socket and the CPU

2. Voltages spec'd for the CPU by the mobo and what
     the CPU can handle

3. The listed FSB compatibility of the CPU compared to
     what the mobo supports

In my experience there is too much that can and does go
wrong with computers to get outside of the manufacturer's
published list of compatibilities.

Some guys invest huge amounts of time and burn up lots
of hardware trying to customize and overclock their pc's.
For most users the performance gains no where near justify
the time and money.
