63MB RAM???  Hope it's running Win9x.  Even 128MB would be better for 98.

As to the choppiness, download a CPU monitor (such as Process Explorer at http://www.sysinternals.com) and check the CPU utilization during playback.  If it's pegging the meter, then more RAM probably won't help.  If utilization is low, the bottleneck is most likely the video card.  It could be RAM depending on the OS, but not so likely.

I have some video on DVD encoded in MP2 which doesn't require a whole lot of
resources to play.  I am guessing the sample rate is fairly high as the
video is choppy, even when played from the HD.  Computer is 500 MHz, 63MB
RAM.  Would more RAM help?
