Hi all,

Just wanted to update everyone that Loren's problem is fixed (or at least seems to be). Ended up being a corrupted NIC installation. Un-installing the NIC (and associated "ghosted" entries) and letting WinXP re-install it after reboot now allows IE to work again.

If you need more details about "ghosted" entries, I've posted before about how to make Windows display them (devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices). Search the archives for details.

Aaron,

through ther steps but looks like it wont set one up. I see where it has a
place to rename but therte is no connection name to rename.

Huh? This doesn't sound right...never seen IE ask for a "driver". Can you
verify the message (or post it here)? You may have an IP stack corruption
that needs to be repaired. Common in situations where spyware was removed
by "brute force".

Yes, I have seen situations where IE didn't work where other browsers
worked...often caused by IP stack corruption, a 3rd party toolbar,
mis-behaving add-in, or some other similar cause.

Post the error and let's try to figure it out. If I missed it in an earlier
post, sorry...post post it again or e-mail me direct.
