[Ham-Computers] Svchost.exe locking up computer

Hello to all on the list, my wife's computer has a window popping up when 
its finished booting up called Svchost.exe

She's has WinXP.

This just started happening in the last week.
I did some looking but can't seem to find a link to get this fixed.

Anyway give me some suggestions on what to do, or how to get the computer 
working.

I can't get any updates for Norton or Spybot due to this problem.
