Be sure to send Gateway a bill for the new supply that doesn't work as well
as a service charge for taking care of thier product that is warranted until
next february.  Be sure to include a copy of the warranty, Seems to me they
owe you around $9,600, non-negotiable except for higher fees levied against
them.  Stupidity is not without consequence.
