Certainly, but you need to add an IDE controller card
(fairly inexpensive item). IDE is a parallel interface.
SATA is a serial interface. I guess serial is cheaper
judging from recent prices on large SATA hard drives.
You might want to compare the price of an additional SATA
hard drive to the cost and trouble of fooling with the IDE.
Especially if the old IDE is less than 10 gig. Might also
remember that it is old. To me it does not make sense to
archive stuff on the least reliable storage available.
