Hi Kurt,
Here's a method I use that I found somewhere on Microsoft's website.
You can change the drive letters to match what you have and where you
want it to go. Outlook Express is on my C: drive, and I backup the
files to my D: drive in case the C: drive crashes. You can change the
folder names you create to whatever you want to call them. This is my
monthly backup procedure.
1) Backup email
a) Create a monthly folder in D: \ C-DRIVE_BU \ YYYY-MM \ IE_OE_BU.
b) Create a folder under IE_OE_BU called 'MAIL_BU'.
c) Open Outlook Express, and click the Offline icon.
d) Click Tools/Options/Maintenance/Store Folder.
e) Paint the folder location that is displayed, and press CTL+C to
copy the location.
f) Click Cancel/Cancel to close the dialog box.
g) Click Start/Run, and in the Open box press CTL+V, and click OK.
h) Press CTL+A to select all, then CTL+C to copy all.
i) Right-click on the MAIL_BU folder, and click Paste.
2) Backup Address Book
a) Open Outlook Express, and click File/Export/Address Book.
b) Click Text File (CSV), and then click Export
c) Click Browse, go to D: \ C-DRIVE_BU \ YYYY-MM \ IE_OE_BU.
d) Create a New Folder called ADDRESS_BOOK
e) Open the folder, and - in the File Name box - type Address_Book, and Save.
f) Click Next, then check all boxes for export, and click Finish.
g) Click OK, and then Close.
3) Backup Mail Accounts
a) In Outlook Express, click Tools/Accounts.
b) On the Mail tab, select the account and click Export
c) In the Save In box, locate D: \ C-DRIVE_BU \ YYYY-MM \ IE_OE_BU,
and create a new folder named 'MAIL_ACCOUNTS', and click Save.
d) Repeat for the other accounts.
e) Close the window, and close Outlook Express.
4) Backup Favorites
a) Copy the Favorites folder in C:\Documents & Settings\Ed\Favorites
and Paste it in D: \ C-DRIVE_BU \ YYYY-MM \ IE_OE_BU.
