The "application data" sub-folder under your user profile is a hidden directory and Windows XP's search feature doesn't search hidden folders or files by default.
Here's a MS Knowlegebase article on how to delete the autocomplete cache (including configuring the "search" feature to include hidden folders/files).

I guess someone at MS called it "nicknames" at one time, thus the .NK2 extension.

I was hoping that all of that extra garbage would be a part of the *.pst
file and that it would be some of the things that were bloating it.
I looked where you said to find the *.nk2 file and could not find any.
I also did a search of the entire hard driver for *.nk?, and turned up
nothing.
Yes, I am using the full version of Outlook (actually Outlook 2002), and
not Outlook Express.
