Many thanks for the information.
I don't have a CD boot disk nor a DVD boot disk.

I ran across a program recently that gives a complete inventory of all the
hardward and software in the computer.
It is:  <  www.belarc.com  >,  three pages of info. It gives the I.D. of my
DVD drive as:

     SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-308B [CD-ROM drive]

Maybe with this info I will be able to track down something.
