[Ham-Computers] Programs starting up

Use MSCONFIG.  Click Start then run.

I didn't know exactly how to phrase the subject.
I'm working on a friends computer and I can't remember how you keep certain 
programs from starting up when I first start the computer.

Example Windows Messenger.

Is there some list I have to click to keep only what I want to start.
