[Ham-Computers] Deleting Programs - XP

I want to delete  Norton Antivirus which I no longer use. I have tried 
using the control panel to delete this program but the program won't go 
away. I use another antivirus now, but when I run EXCEL I have to wait 
several minutes while EXCEL tries to run
Norton Antivirus before EXCEL will start. Any suggestions will be 
appreciated.
