[Ham-Computers] App's that don't use a USB mouse - what should I do?

I mean install the disk in the computer

Boot off the Windows XP CD and then follow the install prompts, it
should find the disk, ask you how much of the disk you want to use and how
 to format it (use NTFS)

I don't understand why you use the drive install CD, I've never used
one ever and my job is to build and support Windows PC's/Servers.

Install the disk and boot off the XP CD, done

That's a nice tip, but I have an opposite problem. New computers
don't have PS/2 or serial ports, but some app's run from a bootable
floppy or CD's that don't provide USB support. Your mouse is
inoperative - and I guess keyboard too since both are USB devices.

I intend to install a new hard drive on a new computer with no PS/2
ports, and first must use the drive installation CD - which does not
have USB support. I have a workaround - I'll use the drive install
app with the drive installed in an old computer, and then put the
drive in a new computer and boot from my Windows XP disk - but
suppose I didn't have an old PC available?
