In 1998 I couldn't get windows 3.1 to work right, black icons
and such, so I upgraded to LINUX (Slackware 3.5 the one kind that
now has a reputation of "not for a beginner to install" and I've
had my ups and downs, (I am just a user, I bought lots of books)
but it works great.
My Slackware Ver, 12 on a 1 Gig. PIII Gateway W/ .5 Gig RAM runs
circles around win 2000 (SP-4) on a Dell 2.54 Gig P-4W/ .5 Gig RAM
at work and the LINUX with its problems works much better than MS
with it's inconsistencies and bizarreness.
The main reason I left M$ for LIFE is because I didn't think I could
afford to feather the nest of the richest person on Earth.
