OK, now that I posted my thoughts on EULA's, I'd like to know what sound card it is that "requires" Windows XP. There aren't many "new" designs in sound cards and most have driver support for older versions of Windows. However, since MS no longer "officially" supports Windows 98(SE) or older, sound card vendors just state that a newer version of Windows is required even though older drivers still exist.

If you list the vendor and model of the sound card, perhaps we can find older drivers for you. Better yet, if you can identify the specific sound chip, then "generic" or "reference" drivers may also be available. Common current sound chip vendors are Realtek, Analog Devices (ADI), C-Media (CMI), and Creative. Don't know if SigmaTel still manufactures sound chips, but I still see their chips on NOS (New, Old Stock) products. Some "musician" or "audiophile" sound cards may use proprietary chips.

Let us know what you have.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Looking for XP Operating System

Hello,

I am looking for an unused XP operating system. I bought a sound card and
need XP in order to user it.

According to Microsoft you can transfer ownership of an operating system to
someone else as long as you do not retain and use copies of it. Maybe
someone has upgraded to Vista and is no longer using XP.

This must be an older version of XP in which it is not tied to your
hardware. If it is impossible for me to use it please let me know. Thanks!

Loren
