[Ham-Computers] Virtual VPN?

Greetings to the list


After reading some rather curious entries in my firewall log, I was 
wondering if there's a way to surf anonymously.

One of my neighbors (self-proclaimed technonerd) suggested "Anonymous 
VPN"

Is this possible, and if so, how? Since the one site I visit the most 
relies heavily on javascript, would this be an issue?

Costs involved? software-based? website-based?
