I have not kept up with Debian, though it usually
has not been difficult since they spread out releases
by years! :-)
Debian used to be a nightmare of dependencies and
required tons of tweaking but I understand it has
become more efficient so that it serves rather than
making the user its servant!
I tried dozens of different distros over 10 years and
finally settled on Puppy, now at version 2.14
There are some neat spin-offs from Puppy that are
optimized for business, graphics, music, and hopefully
soon one for Ham Radio.
