I follow this group because of the computer expertise that
is available, and which I admittedly lack. The pc that I
use primarily for keeping all my logs and those of David -
4L1DA has gone into 'constant recycling' when I powered
up last weekend. I have MS XP Pro on it, and it was
networked with this and other pc's in the shack - and has
since been disconnected to that. The only thing that I
introduced that was different was to put on Open Office
onto it, because of the MS Excel that I have on this pc
I could not access correctly on the other one because it
did not have it installed anymore I have tried to use the
Restore option, but get as far as 'sign in as administrator'
and that is it. I did not use a pw on that pc, or any [as I
am the only one using these pc's]. I also tried all the
other options and none worked - go so far and then
recycle after the start up screen and then 'click'. One
time when I finally chose the option 'start in normal
mode' [I think that was it], the pc came up and said
that it had to check to make sure C:\ drive was not
corrupted - and scanned the complete drive and it
passed, and went to start-up sequence again, and after
the MS start up screen and before the desktop - the
'click' did it again. My main concern right now is to
the info [log files] and although I back up the files
monthly - and I have complete files for all calls on
this pc - the individual log keeping was on the one
down and I would have to 'reconstruct' from this pc
and CD's. Any ideas? Or should I just 'bite the
bullet and start over again? I have been thinking of
bringing one of my C64's down from the loft and
use that one!!! Appreciate 'any' assistance.
