It aggravates me when I'm typing in a new site to have autocomplete keep trying to finish if for me.
My reply:
If you're talking about IE, it sounds like you have "In-line" AutoComplete enabled. You can turn this option off so that AutoComplete just displays a list of possibilities under the URL rather than trying to "finish" the URL for you.
To do this goto "Tools", "Options", "Advanced". Under the "Browsing" subsection, there's an option for "Use inline AutoComplete". Uncheck this box.
On a side note - relating back to the "History" - does it really matter that Ad-Aware clears IE's history? Ad-Aware is actualy doing it's job by deleting your "footsteps". The "history" is dynamic anyway. In IE, the default setting is to keep the history for 20 days. I think this is WAY too long. I believe Firefox's default is 9 days. I generally shorten the history to 7 days for most people. On my system, I have the history set to 3 days and I often manually clear the list before then.
BTW, if you don't know what the "History" is for, it's what browsers use to change the color of links so you know where you've been. And, yes, you can view the history too.
