A better, more in-depth description of what the WGA Notification Tool
does can be found here:

Scroll down to the "Genuine Advantage is Microsoft spyware" story.

BTW, Windows Secrets is a great newsletter. I've been reading Brian
Livingston's articles for years and much of the knowledge I've gained
was by reading his "Windows Secrets" column in InfoWorld. I recommend
subscribing to the Windows Secrets newsletter. The free e-mail
newsletter is the same as what's published on the website, but by
receiving it via e-mail, you won't miss an article. There's also a
"paid" version of the newsletter - you donate *any* amount (even a buck)
you want for a 1-year subscription. The "paid" version includes more
in-depth articles and security reports...well worth even 10 bucks.

And, while I'm "pimping" newsletters <g>, another good one is the
"GripLine" from Infoworld. Ed Foster takes a look at what irks people
the most about computer related issues. The website is here:
http://weblog.infoworld.com/foster/ and you subscribe to the e-mailed
version.

73 all,
