[Ham-Computers] Re Help With CD Video To DVD Formats

Hello All,

I have a CD with seven video files on it with file extensions of either
".mpeg" or ".avi". There is a directory on this disc that contains numerous
programs in executable form, as well as several in zipped form, that
apparently set up the computer to view these files.

Most of you know that I am totally blind. Since 'watching" videos on my
computer is not something I do very often, (LOL!), I would appreciate some
of your sighted wisdom and guidance.

1. I have a DVD with one video clip on it that plays "as is". It has nothing
to do with these seven new ones from the CD! Can I copy the seven new ones
onto the DVD or is doing this going to cause me problems, including the
video presently there to no longer play correctly?

2. Will the out of the box 2005-2006 computer using MS XP Home Edition as
the OS play the ".mpeg" and ".avi" files in their present form? Or do I need
to include a directory/folder that allows the user to pick from the
assortment of video files included on the CD to enable the computer to play
the .mpeg and .avi files? I do NOT want to get into doing "ANYTHING" that
might alter the users default video configuration and mess up their system!
No offense intended here, but most of today's computer users are clueless
about the slightest technical procedures or tasks. So if the files will not
play on the system out of the box, would I be wise to simply not include
them on the DVD?

Your help will be greatly appreciated here, as when it comes to video, there
is simply no question that a blind man is at a distinct disadvantage!
Thanks!
