Duane,
The only hardware change was that I unplugged the old monitor and plugged in
the new one. The ATI video system recognized the change and I think may have
made some adjustments, but the video card remained the same one. And other
than screen resolution I made no other changes to the setup.
When I set up the resolution after getting the new monitor up and running, I
changed it from 1024 x 768 to 1280 x 1024 which yielded approximately the same
dots per inch as with the old monitor. Whether something appears larger,
smaller or the same size as on the old monitor depends upon a number of
variables. But in general, with nothing else changed a less than full screen window
will be about the same physical size but with unused screen area outside the
window.
