Don't bother - WinXP stores individual user profiles, so what that is is
"Scott's" folder, for all his personal settings.
Go to control panel and add a user with your name, then log out and log in
as you, and that will make your "Herb" folder. Then go to control panel
again and delete the "Scott" profile.
Once there's not a user named Scott, you can delete the "Scott" folder.
The catch is you have to have at least one user.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] How do I change system folder name
I just bought a new refurbished HP laptop from Costco. Everything so far is
great, except that the main folder under the Documents and Settings folder
was named "Scott" by the previous user. When I try to change that folder
name to my name I get the following message:
"Scott is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to run
properly. It cannot be moved or renamed."
So, the question is: How can I rename it from Scott to Herb? I presume it
is a registry entry of some sort. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Herb
