Ahhh, Insight is an ISP. Then all the information in the previous post
applies. Basically...

If you buy a Wireless router, you can set it up "out-of-the-box" with no
configuration needed (as most cable modems are configured to supply one DHCP
IP address and the router will pick that up. If you leave it in this
"out-of-the-box" state, then the wireless AP will also be useable with
minimal effort - however, it will be "unsecure".

One exception is if your ISP "married" the "MAC address" of your PC's
ethernet adapter (NIC) to your customer profile. If this is the case, then
your ISP is specifically looking for the adapter's MAC address and won't
allow any other device to connect. This is not a problem for most routers
as the manufacturers anticipated this and allow you to "clone" the MAC
address such that the router looks like your PC's NIC. If you fall in this
category, then some configuration is required to "clone" your PC's NIC "MAC
address". BTW, in networking MAC stands for Media Access Control, not
MACintosh <g>.

Aaron,

Forgive me for not specifying. I meant to say "Insight Broadband" which is
cable.
