I agree with Duane and Jeff.  And a couple of others earlier who basically 
said the same thing.  There may be a Class Action suit in the future of some 
aspiring lawyer for the fact that none of the cable/DSL modems have firewalls 
(AFAIK).  But until that time (and he'll win), anyone who plugs into one without 
a dedicated hardware firewall is just asking for trouble.  We use Norton 
Internet Security here on all three of our smart machines (the DC430 isn't smart).  
But the main thing it's depended upon for is keeping stuff that gets in from 
calling home.

Always remember when you get something for free.  As Robert A. Heinlein had 
one of his characters say some 65 years ago, TANSTAAFL (There Ain't No Such 
Thing As A Free Lunch).  There are a few exceptions but if it was free, you 
probably either paid for it in some other way or you got exactly what you paid for. 
Online tech manuals are all like that.  But I digress.
