The 80487 is a Co-Processor for the 80486.
The 80387 is a Co-Processor for the 80386
The 80287 is a Co-Processor for the 80286

So I would have to disagree with your last statement.
As has been said the 80486 didn't have a Co-Processor for some of them.
Of course after the 486 the C-Processor went extinct cause there was no
need for them.
