[Ham-Computers] hard drive cooling

I can't think of any real reason needed for cooling
drives other than it can't hurt it. 7.2k drives are at
the lower end of present day drive speeds and
shouldn't generate more heat than the case fan can
handle (if the fan cfm rating meets the case specs).
If you are that concerned, I would just add an
additional case fan that works in sync (a push with a
pull) with the existing fan to move air in and out of
the case efficiently. You can use one of the freebee
SMART utilities to monitor your drive (assuming SMART
has been enabled) to see what the drive temps are
before and after cooling. I think you'll only see a
degree or two of variance and nothing outside of the
manufacturers rating.
