Sounds like a corrupted DNS entry for those sites in the local cache.

Yep. Early senility at this end!
Tried everything to fix problem: renewed IP address, connected this computer
directly to cable modem, etc., etc. and nothing worked. Did a soft reset on
modem, NG.
Unplugged modem for two minutes and Viola! the darn thing now works.
It is really strange because I could reach ANY site but QTH.com and my site.
I could even get to QTH.net!
Maybe I should take up golf and forget about computers........
