Ok this applys to linux in general even though the site is for a 
particular distro

As far as your modem you can try here

http://linmodems.org/

and there is much information here

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Modem-HOWTO.html

www.tldp.org is a good place to get howtos and some other information.
If you can't find the info for you modem at linmodems.org then your 
modem will not work with linux, sorry.
