Greetings to the lists. (Plural intended)

A very big thank you to all who responded to my message, "Windows
Alternatives?" and offered hints, suggestions, and links, to where I can download various
versions of Linux, for free. I'm writing this as a "blanket" thank you, due
to the rather large number of replies I got, both through the lists and
directly, that all but prevents me from thanking each of you individually.

I'm setting up an alternative to Windows for a friend, (future ham) and he's
impressed that we could get such useful information, and literally within
hours of posting my original message.

Since I don't have a broadband connection as of yet, I orderd them from a
ham-owned site, for a (IMHO) ridiculously reasonable price, and they included
shipping :-)

In the spirit of Ham Radio, when my friend asked me how he could thank me, I
just smiled and handed him an ARRL membership application. ;-)

Thank you once again, especially for helping me show somebody else, one of
the many things that Ham Radio's all about.

73, Paul W5PDA/4

ps: I'd offer you all a "barley soda", but I live in a dry county hi hi :-D
