knoppix AFU for hams can be found at http://www.afu-knoppix.de/

its a German  distro so you'll be faced with the hardship of typing 
'knoppix lang=us' at the boot.

In the past I've tried Red Hat (starting at 5) then SuSE, followed by 
debian, but for the past couple of years its been Mandrake.  Its 
installation system (urpmi) I'd rate as on a par with debian's now - if 
not better.
