Duane,

Well, in my case three years ago I had to restore the previous year's tax
records from CD in order to do the current year. It was partially my fault.
Lightning took out portions of the system board. I was in a hurry to get it
replaced because I was working off-shore at the time and only had three days left
before I had to go back. And I forgot to copy the tax files to one of the
other drives before installing the new system board and reinstalling the OS.
Didn't actually catch it until months later.

I agree with regard to CD-RW's. At least in our operation, the benefit to
cost ratio is close to zero. I have 22 CD-R sets with TM's stored one them
(separated by prefix - i.e., TM 11, NAVSHIPS, T.O., etc.) so that they are more or
less self-cataloging. Meaning that if I know the TM number, I know which CD
it is on. But several of the sets have gotten up to two volumes (two CD's).
One has four volumes and one has six. Going to DVD will get those back to one
volume. Although it might make sense to buy the more expensive DL's for
those.

Of course, if the house burned, so would the CD's. I really need to get a
second set off-site. :-)
