Actually, come to think about it, they do both suck huge amounts of money
from us! <G> =P
On a side note, to answer another question I received by PM, yes, Yamaha did
leave the CD-R market a couple years ago. Big loss, but understandable due
to the saturated field. At least Plextor stayed in the game - they
manufacture the best CD-R drives on the market. Their DVD Recordable drives
are also top notch. I prefer Pioneer DVD-R drives for compatibility, but
the utilities available for the Plextor drives are quite useful. For
reference, I've used Plextor products since they were known as "Texel"
starting with their 2x CD-ROM drive (many years ago).
For archival backups, I would only consider Pioneer or Plextor
drives...probably leaning toward Plextor as the "Premium" series drives come
with utilities for testing media quality. "Lite-On" makes decent drives
too, but I've run into some media compatibility problems with some drives.
Anyways, digression aside...
