How about NTFS FORMATING cannot see FAT16 formating or vice-versa???

might be a jumper issue. Check very carefully to see that your pri
master and slave are set correctly (which they probably are).
Then start messing with the slave's jumpers. You say you took the
jumper off to make it a slave. Is there a different slave position for
the jumper? I seem to remember it being a jumpered position.
As you move it around and reboot, you'll observe all sorts of
craziness. Sometimes the BIOS won't see one drive or the other, or
both. You'll know it's the right setting when it shows in the BIOS
*and* in Win.
