[Ham-Computers] WINDOWS XP doesn't see HD

no I bought XP when it came out and last 4 drives in this machine were all
formatted with XP except one ME drive which function as a master for a few
months

I am beginning to suspect I just have a BAD INSTALL on the master and it  is
just not see the slave

although I can delete the drive in device manage and reinstall and then it
is seen but give me a message to format the drive when I click on it, and
when I reboot it does not see the slave again


may just reformat the master and start over again .

I question the type of formatting on the two drives. Left to its own
devices, windows XP has a new disk format that is different than older
versions of Windows. I am not sure, but I suspect the master (new) drive is
formatted in the new format while the old drive is formatted like windows 98
etc.

Possibly, and its just a guess, windows XP cannot talk to differently
formatted drives in the same machine.
