Group,
I run an "older" dBase for DOS/dBase 5 base accounting system that I use to
pay my bills, keep up with records for our rich uncle in April, and keep up
with my radio and TM collection. For years, I've used an old DOS utility
(ProKey) invoked when I start the accounting system to reprogram the Shift-F1 through
F12 keys to say "JAN BILL", "FEB BILL", etc. Early next year I'm going to
try to port the 8-bit code into the 32-bit version of dBase, and obviously
ProKey isn't going to be usable. It's possible that the 32-bit version itself
might take care of the problem but the 8-bit version can't program F11 and F12.
Does anyone know of a Windows based utility that can reprogram keyboard keys a
la ProKey?
I'm currently using an early Microsoft curved keyboard, which I probably need
to replace anyway, as the "E" is almost rubbed off of that key. But I took a
look at (i.e., installed) several of Microsoft's drivers tonight (my keyboard
wasn't actually on the list) and although they allow programming a bunch of
keys that are not on this keyboard, none of the ones I tried showed any
Function keys on the programming list. But as an alternate solution, if anyone knows
of a curved keyboard (I just about can't type on a straight one any more)
whose function keys can be programmed, I might try that as I need a new keyboard
anyway.
