Hi All,

The system is a Windows 98 SE using MSIE 5.5 and OE 5.5 I can no tupgrade
to more recent versions.

I was in OE and using the 'find' command to search through the "sent
folder" for a particular person's e-mail. The system locked up. I had to
shut it off.

It booted fine, everything works, but if I press "O" for Outlook Express,
failure!

I am using a screen reading program because I am totally blind. The speech
stops. I have had sighted friends look at the screen before, during, and
after this error? happens. No messages, no indications of a thing wrong,
except the hourglass is not active.

I can get on line using the dialup network and I can go to a web site by
using MSIE.

I have AVG on the system and it is current. I checked every file, no
viruses.

I have Black Ice operating as a firewall.

Question: what can I do to repair whatever has gone wrong with OE 5.5
"without" risking damage to the system or causing a worse problem?

Oh yes, I also have MS Exchange on the system. I set up the old internet
mail feature and it works fine.

thank you.
