Duane,

What is the nature of the images?  Color, B&W photograph, half-tone 
photograph (as in newsprint and most radio manuals), drawing simulating a photograph 
(common in pre-war radio technical manuals) or B&W logos and that sort of thing? 
 Remember that OCR software treats things like logos, outline drawings, 
schematics and wiring diagrams as images, but you still scan them just as you would 
text.  Not as you would a photograph.
