There's several ways to do this, but one of the easiest is to use "Windows 
Movie Maker" I don't recall off-hand if this is or is not included with XP, or 
whether you need "Plus For XP" if that's the case (Plus) and you don't have it, 
I'd be happy to send you my copy of Plus in exchange for a blank CD & return 
postage.

If memory serves, Windows movie maker will let you "cut" and "splice" to your 
heart's content.
