I need a decent laptop and am willing to swap a decent
TenTec station (all four pieces) for the right one
(may also add something extra if justified).

TO SWAP:

TenTec Triton IV (540) Reviews: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/736
TenTec 242 Remote VFO
TenTec 262M Power Supply
TenTec 247 Antenna Tuner

Will send pictures on request.

LAPTOP FEATURES REQUIRED:

Note: Cosmetic flaws that do not impact operation are
not a concern -- reliability is.)

CPU 1GHz (or thereabouts)
RAM (not critical but it must be a reasonable cost to upgrade
to at least 128MB, better 256MB, from whatever is in it)
HDD 20GB (or thereabouts)
Display 14.1" (preferred)
CDRW (prefer dvd read also, internal or external)
FDD (internal or external)
Battery (prefer a strong one, but see next)
External Power Source (prefer something that may be directly
powered from 12vdc, or that comes with the adapter to power from car)
Ports: USB, Serial, Parallel, Mouse, Keyboard, PCMCIA-PCCard,
stereo sound (in and out preferred), mic in (preferred).
Modem: optional
NIC: optional
OS: None necessary but prefer a notebook known to be Linux
as well as Windows compatible.

I have no interest in a swap for a desktop computer, we have
several of those already! ;-)
