Generally speaking, there are no problems, but there are exceptions to some
individuals.

The Firewall and other security options have been enabled by default where
they may be disabled before the install. Likewise, there are things enabled
that will be disabled after the install. Most of the time these things do
not affect operation of the computer. However, in the case of Echo Link, you
may have to authorize its function in the Firewall. If you have a software
firewall already installed, you may want to disable the XP firewall, but if
you don't have one, I recommend you get one. I use Norton Internet Security
but Zone Alarm is a good free one. I am sure there are other good ones, but
I am familiar with these.

BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!

You should be doing this anyway periodically. Before installing any update,
you should at least set a System Restore Point. However, with such a major
update, a full backup is in order. While 999 out of 1000 people won't see a
problem, you might be that one in a thousand.

I wish you the best.
