I don't know either of you personally so I'm not going to say either is
wrong.
I've never used Black Ice but I have heard other places as well as
www.grc.com that it's not a good personal firewall.
I've personally used Zone Alarm from Zone Labs there free version is
here http://www.zonelabs.com/
It's a good product so I've seen and heard.
Another good one I've heard is Sygate Personal Firewall at
http://soho.sygate.com/products/shield_ov.htm
The are Several Personal Firewalls to be had some free others commercial.
I would go with Zone Alarm personally.
A google search such as
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Personal+Firewall%22&btnG=Google+Search

brings up over 1 million pages with "Personal Firewall" in them
The better firewall is an old 486 or better PC with 2 ethernet cards and
Freesco or Clark Connect installed.
There are other Linux variants that work too but I've used Freesco and
Clark Connect.
Of course a personal firewall plus a pc made into a hardware firewall
together is better protection.

Just my opinions and hope it helps someone.
