Thank you Dale. Yes it all helps.
As is rather obvious, I do not download music! I am a serious audio buff, not
one of those audio fools or however it is spelled (knowing grin). I have both
vintage and modern stereo equipment. Because I am totally blind, and have pretty
keen hearing yet, I prefer the better frequency response of the hardware
equipment. It is an entirely different sound and having spent thirty years on
stage as an entertainer, not a musician, it is my prefered listening mode.
This elderly gentleman has no idea what he is doing with this computer and his
family and others keep trying to help him. Well, we know where that goes. Total
confusion. he says ... She says ... He is confused and afraid to click the
mouse. He has already trashed one computer because of this.
However, if he had called me I could have fixed the computer, but he was
convinced to give it away as it was junk. His son got him a new one for
Christmas, but the poor old guy has no idea what it even has in it for hardware.
So I am going over there this next week and see what the heck is going on.
I think he had some software on there that he went to some web site and
downloaded. A name I am not familiar with. Then one day he got a message he now
had to pay $29.95 to continue downloading tunes. He does not give his credit
card number out, no matter what. He is also filling up his HD with these tunes,
has no CD burner, I do not think he could use one if he had one truthfully, so I
need to find a better and easier way for him to enjoy his tunes.
>From what I know about this topic, which is limited, the Apple iPod may be his
best solution. From what has been said thus far, you seem to support this
approach.
Thanks.

Duane
As Aaron said he would have to download Itunes from
http://www.apple.com/itunes
and Install the Windows drivers to recognize the Ipod.
He also has to goto http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ and get the Dock
connector not sure if you need a driver if you use the dock connector.
If his Ipod came with a CD then it should contain the necessary software
to use the Ipod.
Ipod will only work with Itunes that I'm aware of.
Hope this helps
